The Annual Workers Compensation Educational Conference is held each year in Orlando, Florida. This year marks the 72nd year of the Workers Compensation Educational Conference and 29th year of the Annual Safety and Health Conference. The event will be held from August 6-August 9, 2017 at the Orlando World Center Marriott. Attendees of the Conference generally include defense attorneys, claimant attorneys, nurse case managers, adjusters, doctors, and chiropractors.
The focus of the Conference is on national Workers Compensation issues that affect all of the States in the U.S. In the previous years, the focus of the Conference was generally on Florida law, but this is no longer the case this year. The main topic that will be discussed is occupational safety and health. Many Workers Compensation and safety professionals deal with more than one State, thus this Conference is designed to provide information on multi-state Workers Compensation laws. Specifically, presentations will be held to discuss the different laws and regulations of North Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Illinois, and California. The Conference also holds courses for attendees to inform them of the recents changes in the Workers Compensation law and industry. The courses also discuss recent case law changes which are always a very important aspect of the law.
Each year, the Workers Compensation Educational Conference has a celebrity keynote speaker that shares his or her life experiences. This year the celebrity keynote speaker is Derrick Brooks, a former NFL player that was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 14 seasons. Brooks was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014 and he is widely considered one of the best linebackers of all time. In the past, some notable keynote speakers have included Jim Kelly and Steve Spurrier, to name a few. Brooks is also the prayer breakfast speaker, which marks the first time the celebrity keynote speaker and breakfast speaker are the same person. The entertainment this year features Gavin DeGraw who is most known for his songs “Chariot,” “I Don’t Want to Be,” and “Followed Through.” DeGraw is a multi-platinum selling singer, performer, and song writer.
The Annual Workers Compensation Educational Conference is a very exciting and informative event for attendees.
